As we come to the end of 2021, and the coronavirus pandemic has fundamentally changed how we view life, many of us are asking these questions more than ever:

Who am I? and Why am I here?

Many of us don’t know who we really are. We buried our passions to follow the expectations of our parents, religion, and society.

We took the safe and easy path that society promised would bring happiness and fulfilment; a steady job, regular income, and family stability. In following this path we had to hide our true selves to get on with the task of living the dream.

But during these last few turbulent years, this dream is now turning into a nightmare, as we see beyond the illusion.

This dream does not bring happiness, fulfilment or contentment and for those of us who have buried our passions, we are now faced with a void. It’s that burning in the pit of your stomach that you feel every time you do something that goes against your passion, and who you really are.

Finally, for the first time in history we have the freedom to be ourselves, and satiate our personal desires. No matter what you do, material things can never satiate the burning passion of our desires.

We can be whoever we want to be, live however we want to live, dress how we want, look how we want, even choose our own sex. We are the freest generation, and no longer have to follow the religious moral norms and behaviours dictated by the past.

This freedom is what makes these questions so powerful now.

As the chains of societal and religious control weaken, and we have full control of our external worlds, we have the luxury (in the West) to explore our own inner desires and passions.

We all have unique gifts, skills and talents that the world needs to help maintain and preserve it for future generations.

Passion is what fuels our creativity, enjoyment and fun. It’s what fires us up and gets us out of bed. We all have something special to give because we are all equally connected to this great web of life. It doesn’t matter who you are, what your life is like, how beautiful you are, how much money you can make, or what country you were born in.

The only way to live your passion is to find out who you really are. The more we love ourselves, the stronger our self-awareness becomes. We take personal responsibility for the choices we make, and no longer blame others for the situation we are in. This enables us to release any shame and guilt for following our own path and being who we are, even if it means upsetting the expectations of others.

When we start living shamanically, in tune with ourselves and nature, we understand how powerful we really are.

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe reminded us that: “Man is not born to solve the problems of the universe, but to find out what he has to do.… within the limits of his comprehension.”

When we realise we are truly free to be ourselves, we can ignite our passion, that fuels our hope, that feeds our creativity, that inspires conscious change, that motivates right action to be the change!
